Ariana Papademetropoulos

Los Angeles-born artist Ariana Papademetropoulos creates paintings rooted in hyperrealism and illusion, constructing surreal environments in which familiar reality gives way to the fantastical. Her work draws on mythology, femininity, Jungian archetypes, and imagery from Medieval and Renaissance art, reinterpreting historical symbols within contemporary narratives. Primarily a painter, Papademetropoulos also works in sculpture and film. She received her BFA from California Institute of the Arts and has exhibited widely in the United States and internationally.
